The partners, who formed their association in August 2008, plan to move Vercipia’s headquarters from Massachusetts to Florida, where it has a commercial-scale cellulosic ethanol facility under development in south-central Highlands County.
At that time, BP and Verenium said the Highlands County plant would have nameplate capacity of 36 million gallons a year and cost between $250m and $300m.
The US Energy Department (DOE) has given Vercipia permission to move forward with due diligence on a DOE loan guarantee for the Highlands project.
