The facility will process wood pellets into ‘biocoal,’ which is comparable in energy density to traditional coal -- and twice as dense as wood sawdust pellets. The product is then used for co-firing with pulverised coal in electrical generation plants.
The plant is expected to cost €13m, with €9.3m coming from new loans. Commercial operation will begin in late 2009.
