The House voted in early December to renew the credit for one year but the Senate did not take up its own version of the bill. Efforts last month to give the issue priority also failed.
Senators Max Baucus, a Montana Democrat who chairs the Senate Finance Committee, and Charles Grassley, the senior Republican there from Iowa, had included the biodiesel credit as part of a massive proposed jobs creation bill.
