In a letter to the country’s consumer watchdog commission, the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) accuses the six companies of making “exaggerated and contradictory” claims in statements to lawmakers and investors regarding a package of climate change bills currently sitting before the senate.
The letter lays out 14 instances in which deceptive statements were allegedly made by the companies, which include Rio Tinto, Xstrata, Woodside, Boral, Caltex and BlueScope Steel.
