The company’s wholly-owned clean-energy unit, Trans-Asia Renewable Energy, is set to start construction in July. No details have been released over a turbine supplier.

The approval from the Department of Energy confirms that the central government in Manila recognises the technical and commercial feasibility of the project, which will cost about $106m.

It brings Trans-Asia one step closer to qualifying for the country’s feed-in tariff system for wind power, which is 8.53
