The WindScape Institute, the technical arm of developer Windlab, has published research concluding that wind can reliably and cost-effectively meet the RET of 41TWh by 2020, when 20% of Australia's energy to be sourced from renewables.
The institute determined that 8GW of wind is required to reach the target, a capacity already approved and ready to construct.
"Furthermore, there is an additional 10GW of wind energy currently under development, making even a 30% wind-energy scenario by 2025 for Australia readily achievable," the study says.
