Fukuoka-based Sigma Power Janex will next year build and operate a 4MW wind farm in Shin-Nagashima, Kagoshima prefecture, according to a brief statement.
It also plans to construct four more plants on the island of Shikoku, and on sites in the central and northern areas of Honshu.
When Toshiba finalises the deal in November, it will also get Sigma Power Janex’s operating wind farms – the 2MW Nagashima-Kuronose and the 16MW Shin-Kamigoto Whales plants, both on the southern island of Kyushu.
Toshiba said turbines used at the plant will be "under the Toshiba brand".
