Castle Hill, located north of Masterton on New Zealand’s North Island, had resource consents for up to 286 turbines confirmed by the Environment Court.
Genesis has been involved in an appeals process since first seeking consents in August 2011, but said all issues have now been resolved.
A statement from the utility said there are no immediate plans to begin construction. Subdued power demand in New Zealand has kept major generation projects on the drawing board over the last few years.
