China adds one-third of world's wind

China installed more than a third of the world’s new onshore wind power capacity last year, remaining the largest wind market for the fourth year in a row, says a new report.

China’swind industry built 15.9GW of onshore projects in 2012, according to researchcompany Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF).

Thiscompares to new US capacity of 13.2GW last year, a record for that market butstill 14% less than China.

BNEF’snumbers are higher than those revealed by the China Wind Energy Associationlast month. CWEA says its preliminary research shows China installed around14GW.

BNEFalso has different numbers for equipment suppliers, suggesting that Goldwindinstalled 2.8GW,
