Despite facing pressure from the US to continue allowing foreign-produced kit, and the threat of repercussions in the World Trade Organization (WTO), Delhi now expects three-quarters of the PV components used in the next solar bidding round to come from India-based manufacturers, according to the Hindu Business Line newspaper.

That report, which quotes Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah, contradicts earlier indications that Delhi would set aside 300MW of the upcoming 750MW tender round – or 40% – for projects exclusively using Indian components.
