The development in Xinjiang province is built around French manufacturer Soitec's CPV modules, which use banks of Fresnel lenses to focus sunlight 500-fold on to triple-junction cells.
"The first [2.7MW] phase has confirmed the high efficiency and power output of Soitec's CPV technology," says Focusic managing director Ma Wenxing.
"We therefore decided to use Soitec's modules for the two remaining phases of our project.
