Most solar and wind sector groups say Berlin wants to abolish a support system that has produced excellent results for 15 years with tenders that carry risks for the industry, such as scaring off citizen-based renewable projects that so far have been the backbone of Germany's Energiewende, its transition from nuclear to renewable power.

"In particular the high investments directly by citizens will be impeded by the tendering model favoured by the economics (and energy) minister," Sigmar Gabriel, as Herman Falk, the managing director of Germany's renewables federation BEE sums up.
