Delta Chemical, which manufacturers water treatment chemicals, will use the biofuel to help power its lead plant boiler. The contract will fulfill approximately 50% of the company’s annual energy consumption needs.
Testing was completed last week with results showing excellent light-off and combustion properties. Deliveries will begin in the next two weeks from New Generation Biofuels' new Baltimore production facility.
``Our biofuel has demonstrated significant overall greenhouse gas emission reductions as well as local air pollution reductions including nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide compared to distillate fuel oil,’’ says Cary Claiborne, chief executive of New Generation Biofuels.
