During commencement on Saturday, US Senator Richard Lugar will be at the controls of a drilling machine that will drive the first of up to 4,000 boreholes required for the project. Lugar will then speak to graduates at a ceremony.
School officials say the project will cost between $65 million and $70 million. It will provide geothermal heating and cooling for more than 40 buildings on the 660-acre campus within a decade.
