The Arizona company also announced plans to build the 129MW (AC) Campo Verde Solar Project in Imperial County, California. The project is to begin this quarter and be completed next year. San Diego Gas & Electric is to purchase electricity from the project under a 20-year contract. First Solar is in the process of acquiring the Campo Verde ownership interest of its joint development partner US Solar Holdings.
First Solar recorded second-quarter sales of $957m, up $425m from the same period last year, as projects in its large North American pipeline reached milestones at which the company can recognize revenue.
