They are planning a pilot plant at Dow’s sprawling petrochemical complex in South Charleston, West Virginia, that Alstom will design, build and operate. It will be their first collaboration.

The plant, which is scheduled for third quarter operation, will capture 1,800 tons of CO2 a year from flue gas of a coal-fired boiler there. Captured CO2 will be stored onsite.

``The amine technology will use proprietary solvents and our own engineering to optimize carbon capture under low pressure,’’ Peder Danielsen, strategic marketing director at Dow Oil and Gas, tells Recharge from company headquarters in Midland, Michigan.
