The IEA's 2013 WEO forecasts suggest renewablesproduction will climb to over 7,000TWh, overtaking gas "in the next coupleof years" and catching up with coal as the leading power supply within twodecades, as government subsidies are ratcheted up to some $220bn.
From a 20% share of global power generation levelsin 2011, renewables are foreseen to make up 31% of the total in 2035, withChina seeing the largest absolute increase in output from clean energy, morethan the gains in the EU, US and Japan combined.
"Renewables
