The company has hired the global business advisory firm FTI to handle the sale, pending approval from a bankruptcy judge to sell the plant.

Brian Roach, chief executive of Northeast Biofuels, said he wants to find a buyer before May 1. He told local media he could not guarantee an eventual buyer will use the plant to produce ethanol.

The plant was unable to reach full production due to design flaws involving piping between the corn milling equipmenty and the fermentation vessels.
