AgStar Financial Services’ lending group acquired the plant in March as part of a court-ordered sale of VeraSun’s assets. The plant had 53 employees before it was shut down by VeraSun.
Guardian Energy, based in Shakopee, several miles southwest of Greater Minneapolis, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Guardian Eagle Investments formed to own and operate the plant. The expected new owners hope to have the refinery fully operational within 60 days of the closing date.
