No one was injured when the B53 rotor blade of the SWT-2.3-108 wind turbine fell to the ground yesterday, Siemens Energy says.
Siemens says that it does not yet know the cause of the accident, but is working to determine whether and how it may be related to a recent similar incident in Iowa.
“Siemens Energy has immediately convened a team of experts at the site who will examine all facets of this incident, including the production, installation, commissioning and service of the blade, which is under warranty by Siemens Energy,” the company said in a statement.
