The new turbine has a rated frequency of 60Hz, compared tothe 50Hz version of the 3.0M122 the German wind group has been selling.
The new version – with an initial hub height of 100m and a rotordiameter of 122m – will go on sale in Canada later this year, REpower says.Additional hub heights are planned for future versions.
The new turbine allows customers to net an “optimum energyyield at non-coastal sites with lower speeds, as well as in challenging areas suchas hilly terrain or forests”, explains REpower chief executive Andreas Nauen.
