The study, WorldEnergy Perspective: Cost of Energy Technologies, by the World EnergyCouncil (WEC) and Bloomberg New Energy Finance, also says that emerging renewablestechnologies such as tidal and wave, are still in the early phases of costdiscovery.
Despite the growth ofrenewables, coal is still “the king of electricity production”, accounting formore than 1.8 terawatts of installed generation capacity, the authors say, and electricity from fossil fuels makes up 65% of globalproduction.
