NextEra – the biggest US renewable generator – told investors it expects to add between 500MW and 1.5GW of wind to its existing 10GW-plus portfolio by the end of 2014, as well as about 300MW of contracted solar by 2016.

The company recently pushed back and shrank its Blythe mega-solar project in California.

The company said its NextEra Energy Resources division – home to its wind and solar assets – benefitted from the contribution of new capacity, but suffered from lower wind generation in the quarter.
