Recharge has learned that the country’s Ministry of Mines and Energy seriously considered adopting the measure for 2013’s round of tenders, but has so far been persuaded by the power generation sector that no threat to locally-based turbine suppliers currently exists to justify it.
However, the idea will remain under discussion throughout the rest of the year and could resurface as part of next year’s tenders.
