SunPower will pay an undisclosed amount of cash forCalifornia-based Greenbotics, and the acquisition will be immediately accretiveto earnings.

Greenbotics’ robots need less than half a cup (236ml) ofwater to clean a normal PV module, 90% less than traditional cleaning methodssuch as pressure water and sprayer trucks.

The tight supply of water in desert regions is seen as a keybottleneck for the update of utility-scale PV, as dust on modules typicallyreduces output by 15%.
