Thetransmission distance is vast even by US standards, with Utah 800km fromCalifornia at their nearest point, and Nevada sitting between the two.
However,the $600m ECG Utah Solar 1 project will benefit from its proximity to theexisting 1.9GW Intermountain Power Plant, which boasts an HVDC transmissionline flowing to California.
EnergyCapital Group, which is based in Utah, gave no timeframe for the project. Thegroup, whose largest PV project to date tips the scale at 25MW, will lease 700hectares of land from the Utah School and Institutional Trust LandAdministration.
