Onshore wind is set to bounce back as the leading source of new power-generation capacity in the US this year, according to the government’s Energy Information Administration (EIA), which predicts 10.9GW of new wind farms will come on line in 2019.

The market for new wind farms has fallen behind natural gas and solar plants in recent years in the US, although the three technologies remain fiercely competitive and now utterly dominate new capacity additions.
