RWE still wants to use gigawatt of troubled Siemens Gamesa wind turbine 'when it is ready'

RWE still plans to stick to a 1GW framework deal to source onshore wind turbines from Siemens Gamesa but will work with other OEMs until engineering issues at the manufacturer's faulty platforms are resolved, the German utility’s Europe and Australia onshore chief Katja Wünschel told Recharge.

Siemens Gamesa has currently halted sales of its troubled 4.X and 5.X onshore wind platforms but said it is still supplying machines from the 4 and 5MW class to customers who had ordered them before the company made its quality problems public.
