The Scottish government will offer 3.5 renewable obligation certificates (ROCs) per MWh for pilot projects employing “non-fixed generation” – those using floating or tension-line deployment systems.

New banding arrangements also include an enhanced 2.5 ROCs for generation from offshore test and demonstration sites “deploying innovative, new-to-market turbines”. The standard allowance for offshore deployment is two ROCs.

The new bands follow a review launched by energy minister Fergus Ewing last September.
