Scotland plans extra support for deep-water offshore wind

Scotland may introduce a higher support incentive for offshore wind deployment in deep waters, says the country’s energy minister Fergus Ewing.

The Scottish government will carry out a consultation over a new Renewables Obligation (RO) banding for “innovative offshore wind deployment in deep waters”.

Ewing made the announcement as he confirmed the majority of Scotland’s new support levels under the RO scheme for the 2013-17 period – most of which are in line with those for the rest of the UK, already announced by the Westminster government in London.
