Siemens gets 97MW Peru order
Siemens has won another wind turbine order in Peru, this time for 97MW.
The order is from Cobra Energia, which last year took 32MW from the German manufacturer – at that stage its first deal in Peru.
The latest order will see Siemens deliver 25 direct drive SWT-3.0-108 machines and eight SWT-2.3-108 turbines to the Tres Hermanas project near the city of San Juan de Marcona.
The project was awarded to Cobra under the Peruvian government’s second renewable energy tender.
Commissioning is due in July 2015 and the order includes a six-year service agreement.
"This second order from Cobra Energia allows both of our companies to further expand our wind power activities in a growing wind market," said Mark Albenze, CEO of Siemens Energy's Wind Power Onshore Americas business.
"The project is also important for our US factories in Iowa and Kansas, from which we’ll export all of the blades and geared nacelles for Tres Hermanas."
