Bird charity RSPB Scotland has lost its legal challenge to four offshore wind projects off the country’s coasts, paving the way for 2.3GW of potential development to proceed.

The Court of Session in Edinburgh rejected the charity’s plea seeking leave to appeal to the UK Supreme Court against an earlier judgment that backed Scottish government consent for the projects.

The four wind farms located in the Firths of Forth and Tay are the 450MW Neart na Gaoithe – which is the most advanced – Inch Cape (784MW) and Seagreen Alpha and Seagreen Bravo (525MW each).
