Norway’s Statkraft will buy power and capacity certificates from a wind farm in northern France, its first such deal there as the country moves towards a market-based renewables support mechanism.

The utility signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for output from the 6MW Eole Source project in Sensee Hamelincourt, owned by investment group TTR Energy.

Statkraft said the agreement comes as France shifts to the ‘complément de rémunération’ system that supersedes feed-in-tariff support, and which requires renewable producers to sell their power on the wholesale market.
