Chile’s government has again introduced small changes in its power tender process, which, according to José Ignácio Escobar, president of the Chilean Renewable Energy Association (ACERA), could attract more investment and increase the number of hybrid projects that combine wind with other technologies.

This year the government has doubled the guarantees required from developers — to $32,000 per GWh — and has introduced new three-monthly blocks that allow developers to sign power-purchase agreements (PPAs) for certain times of the year.
