Chile has raised the bar for capital requirements in this year’s regulated-market tender, under which it plans to contract 4.2TWh annually via 20-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) starting in 2023.

The final tender rules were approved last week by the Mines and Energy Ministry and doubled guarantee requirements to around $32,000 per GWh, from $16,000 per GWh in the regulated market tender that was completed last year and dominated by wind projects.
