Orsted has generated first power at its Hornsea 2 offshore wind farm, which will become the world’s largest operating so far at 1.3GW when fully commissioned and could play a pioneering role in producing green hydrogen.

The Danish group said Hornsea 2, 89km off the North Sea coast of eastern England, is installing the remainder of its 165 8MW Siemens Gamesa turbines ahead of completion in 2022.
