New offshore wind installations are expected to reach a record 4.2GW this year in Europe and will grow even much further in coming years, Rystad Energy said.

The continent's capacity additions in 2022 will recover from a lull of 1.8GW last year, and top the previous annual record of 3.8GW set in 2019, the analysts said. New installations are then seen to almost double to 7.3GW next year, and jump to 8.6GW in 2025.

Record-high capacity additions are slated to be driven primarily by UK projects that are expected to add 3.2GW
