US investment firm BlackRock, the world’s largest fund manager, has further beefed up its renewable energy holdings by raising its stake in the total share capital of Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas to 5.11%, Vestas said in a note.

Companies have to make public any shareholdings above 5%, according to Danish stock market rules.

BlackRock chief executive Laurence Fink in an open letter in January 2020 had said that environmental sustainability would be a key goal for investment decisions, and announced the company would start selling off assets that “present a high sustainability-related risk,” such as those in coal activities.
