What is claimed to be a first-of-a-kind remotely operated rescue vessel to target the offshore wind industry has been unveiled in a bid to offer instant help before lifeboats or helicopters can arrive at projects far out to sea.

The 11-metre ‘Survivor Class’ crewless rescue vessel is designed to be mounted at offshore wind farms and be deployed by a 25-metre free fall if technicians or other workers run into trouble, offering “an accessible safe haven” from cold water while help arrives in a situation where “every second counts”.
