A man fell to his death inside a wind turbine tower in southern California last week, according to local authorities.
Mario Contreras Jr, 52, from Calexico, California, was working for Site Constructors Inc, a wind/hydro/battery project construction company based in northern California, at a wind farm near Palm Springs, when the incident occurred on 30 December.
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, which is now investigating his death, reported that Contreras “fell more than 100ft [30 metres] inside the tower of a wind turbine” and the Riverside County Fire Department said he had died before first responders arrived...
