An IRENA task force is exploring the incorporation of WindMade to create “an even stronger label, providing greater flexibility as well as geographic reach”, said a statement from the two organisations.

WindMade was launched in 2011 as the world’s first consumer label for a renewable energy source, and was endorsed by the UN Global Compact and WWF.

Morten Albaek – chief marketing officer of WindMade founding partner Vestas – said he is “thrilled IRENA will investigate WindMade and convert it to RenewableMade", adding that the body has the global reach to take the initiative further and faster than is possible now.
