Denmark’s Dong Energy has formally taken over RES Americas’ offshore lease area off the coast of New Jersey, now known as the Ocean Wind zone. The zone covers 160,480 acres (64,944 hectares) some 10 nautical miles (18km) offshore, and has the potential to hold more than 1GW of offshore wind capacity. RES bought the development rights to the zone in a competitive auction last November, and Dong soon announced its intention to buy the rights.
