Regulators in Minnesota voted unanimously to approve Minnesota Power’s 15-year resource plan with additional coal retirements and investments in wind and solar energy. They required that the utility initiate competitive bidding for 100-300MW of wind energy by the end of 2017 and explore procurement of 100MW of solar energy by 2022.
Dairyland Power Cooperative will purchase 98MW of wind power under long-term contract with EDP Renewables North America.
