Southern Company is seeking US regulatory approval for its subsidiary Southern Power to acquire a 90.1% stake in the 257MW Wake project in Texas from Invenergy. Southern Power, a wholesale electricity producer, would invest $469m in Wake, which is due to enter commercial operation in the third quarter. Invenergy has signed 12-year off-take deals for the project’s full nameplate capacity.
