Vancouver, British Columbia,-based Western Wind Energy is developing a 120MW project, known as Windstar I, on land in the Tehachapi Pass area, one of the oldest and largest (by number of turbines) wind-energy developments in the US.

The new land totals about 575 acres (233 hectares). The company says it is also pursuing additional contiguous parcels that could bring the total area for the new project to 1,500 acres – enough to accommodate 80MW of wind energy.
