US President Joe Biden and a bipartisan group of senators reached agreement on $550bn in new federal spending to upgrade the nation’s infrastructure including clean energy transmission, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and ports that can support offshore wind development.

Biden, anxious for a high-profile political win early in his administration, backed the ambitious package, calling it “the most significant long-term investment in our infrastructure and competitiveness in nearly a century.”
