Mitsubishi-owned Dutch utility Eneco expects more subsidy-free offshore wind tenders to be held in the Netherlands and other countries, and is interested in expanding into new European markets and Asia, its managing director in France Lydia Schot said.

Despite the “big risk that needs to be taken into account” arising from offshore wind concessions that depend only on wholesale market prices, “we see more and more that merchant markets will come up”, Schot said during the Offshore & Floating Wind Europe digital industry conference.
