Poland’s government in reaction to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is considering to upgrade its maritime spatial planning and authorities may grant additional seabed permits to allow for much higher volumes of offshore wind in the Baltic Sea, Siemens Gamesa’s Poland managing director told Recharge.

Warsaw in the wake of a possible revision of its 2040 energy strategy is also mulling to scrap a damaging distance rule on land, which could lead to tripling the potential for onshore wind in the Eastern European country, Pawel Przybylski, said in an interview.
