Vietnam is poised to extend its feed-in tariff for wind projects by more than two years and increase its plans for future turbine capacity, in a big boost to development prospects in one of Asia’s hottest new markets as it moves to plug a gap left by coal.

The nation’s Prime Minister this week asked Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) to extend the current FIT for onshore and offshore wind to December 2023 from 31 October 2021, and to speed up approval of more wind into its electricity ‘Master Plan’, according to law firm Duane Morris.
