Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has won an order to provide 83 of its 2 or 4MW turbines to Windpark Zeewolde onshore repowering project North of Amsterdam.

With 322MW, the cooperative wind farm close to the Ijsselmeer artificial lake will be the Netherland’s largest on land and the largest community-owned wind farm in Europe, covering 300 square kilometres.

The wind park currently consists of more than 200 turbines which will be replaced by new Vestas turbines that will generate almost three times more energy with less than half the number of turbines – an important feature in the densely populated country.
